Description
This course provides students with the knowledge and
skills necessary to secure networks and systems in an enterprise
environment using tools commonly found in the corporate environment.
These tools include freeware andsource intrusion detection
services, as well as other security tools.
Students also gain the practical and technical
expertise needed to implement enterprise security utilizing the @ctive
Defense security model, typical 'hacker' intrusion techniques, and the
development of a business case for enterprise security.
Complex social aspects of good security practice are
discussed, followed by refining policies, and progress through the
development, implementation, and electronic enforcement of solid
security procedures.

Prerequisites
- Experience with Windows
NT/2000 networks, TCP/IP, Linux, and multi-vendor network solutions.
- Familiar with solutions
including product basis, installation procedures and running reports.
The course materials, lectures, and lab
exercises will be presented in English.
Educational Objectives
Students should be able to establish
good baseline security within their organization or for their clients.
Students should be able to develop cost effective monitoring of security
events and anticipate the difficulty of incidence response. Example
procedures for incident management will be provided and explained to
assist participants in real-world security management.
